Consultation Workshop
The Royal Government of Cambodia has received grant financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to implement a project called “Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region. The overall objective of the project is to help Rice-based communities in the Tonle Sap region of Cambodia reduce their climate vulnerability and increase their resilience to climate change through an ecosystem-based, market-driven approach.
The project has a five-year duration (June 2022 - June 2027) and covers five provinces around the Tonle Sap which is one of Cambodia’s two major rice-growing areas. The region is predominantly rainfed, with limited access to irrigation, and the residents are mainly communities with high vulnerabilities and low adaptive capacities to climate change.
To achieve this, the PCRL project team conducted a Consultation Workshop on Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), Knowledge Management (KM), and Gender Mainstreaming, with a total of 41 participants (7 females) from implementing partners and key stakeholders including relevant departments of the General Directorate of Agriculture and General Directorate of Local Communities, Departments of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Departments of Environment, IRRI, WCS and the five Provincial Coordinators (PCs) from five target provinces.
The overall objectives of the workshop were to (1) agree on communication strategies for the PCRL project, (2) identify the target audience, roles and responsibilities of implementing partners in supporting communication strategies and mechanisms, and (3) monitoring & evaluation tools. knowledge management, (4) strategies for gender mainstreaming.
As a result, after this two-day consultation workshop, all participants, including project implementation partners and key stakeholders, gained an understanding of the PCRL project activities as a whole, understanding of monitoring & evaluation tools and strategies for gender mainstreaming, as well as provided key inputs for improving communication strategies, monitoring & evaluation, and gender mainstreaming strategies. At the same time, all implementing partners will continue to cooperate in the implementation of the project action plan in the target areas of the five provinces: Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Kampong Thom.
