Field Monitoring Rice Seed Production Activities

On August 13, 2024, the PCRL project team in Battambang, in partnership with IRRI, conducted an initial rapid assessment with the Rice Seed Producer Groups (RSPG) in Moung Reussey district, Battambang province. During the assessment, the project team inspected the rice seed production activities of the RSPG in Toul Thnong and Kralom Phluk villages, Prey Svay commune, Maung Russey district, Battambang province, and discussed current farming practices, climate vulnerabilities, and resource accessibility.

Based upon the LOA, IRRI will support the PCRL project as an Implementing Partner (IP) that will involve supporting the development of training materials, conducting Training of Trainers (TOTs) for relevant stakeholders, creating suitable business models for farmers and producer groups to use in the production of certified seeds, enhancing MAFF's capacity to certify seeds at national and provincial levels, and carrying out technology needs assessments and feasibility studies for an app-based solution to improve stakeholders' climate resilience.

PCRL is a five-year joint initiative by the FAO, GDA of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and GDLC of the Ministry of Environment, funded by the Global Environment Facility.
