Gender Mainstreaming
Gender Mainstreaming
An important vision of the Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region (PCRL) project is to promote gender mainstreaming in every step of its implementation. Gender mainstreaming in the PCRL project refers to harmonizing perspectives and strategies that promote gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as ensuring inclusivity in all project activities, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. It will enhance the effectiveness of the PCRL project activities by addressing different issues and needs of the project beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders of any gender, contributing to the recognition of social and economic inclusion, which ensures that those at risk of poverty and social exclusion gain the opportunities and resources necessary to participate fully in economic, social, political and cultural life and to enjoy a standard of living.
Through the implementation of gender mainstreaming, the PCRL project expects to result: (1) Equal recognition and status for men and women (2) Equal access to and control over society's opportunities, resources, and development outcomes by women and men (3) Equal participation by men and women in the decision-making processes for setting priorities and allocating resources (4) Equal improvement in standard quality of life for women and men (5) Reduction in poverty for both men and women and (6) Improved effectiveness and efficiency of economic growth and sustainable development.
