The total rice yield was 12.49 million tons (3.14 million tons of dry rice and 9.35 million tons of wet rice), an increase of 868,826 tons, equivalent to 7.47% compared to 2022.
The Royal Government of the seventh mandate has set out six priority policies for the development of the country, which the fifth and sixth priorities focus on the agricultural sector, namely, the fifth point: Farmers will receive protection through the establishment of coordination mechanisms and financing programs, in particular the appropriate insurance of agricultural prices, and point 6: The Royal Government will send commune agriculture officers to help farmers in all communes/Sangkats with people engaged in agriculture and establish farming communities throughout the country to protect the interests of farmers.
These priorities focus on supporting the production value chain and deploying commune agriculture officials, and to contribute to these priorities, the Promoting Climate-resilient Livelihoods in Rice-based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region (PCRL)implemented by the General Department Agriculture, funded by the Global Environment Facility through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in collaboration with WAT4CAM, Helen Keller International Cambodia and GIZ, have provided support to commune agriculture officials through technical training in the target provinces.
