Workshops

The first workshop [PCRL Inception Workshop] was successfully conducted on 26 October 2023, with a total participation of 82 (19 females). In the end, the whole workshop achieved better results than expected. Later, a Provicial Orientation Workshop was conducted in Siem Reap province on 1 February 2024, with a total participation of 89 stakeholders (17 women) from the national level and target provinces, including Siem Reap and Kampong Thom.

Then, another Provincial Orientation Workshop was conducted in Battambang province on 14 March 2024, with a total participation of 126 stakeholders (20 women) from the national level and target provinces, including Battambang, Pursat and Banteay Meanchey.

There will be a lot more workshops to be conducted among national and sub-national levels, communities, partners, and stakeholders with specific agendas, including addressing the priorities, challenges, constraints, suggestions, needs, and innovations emerging from different actors regarding the PCRL project implementation. These workshops will also provide an excellent opportunity for various stakeholders to share their perspectives, discuss challenges, and present lessons learned and best practices, including the project’s successes.

Workshop in Five Provinces

The provincial workshop to promote the use of certified seed and the distribution ceremony of the granted registered rice seed to Rice Seed Producer Groups (RSPGs) was successfully organized by the PCRL in its five target provinces. This workshop occurred from June 24th to June 28th, 2024, and involved more than 200 participants with the purpose of: 1. Increase awareness of the rice seed system among paddy producers and local rice millers. 2. Estimate the demand for certified rice seed for the following season in consultation with paddy producer groups and local rice millers. 3. Award the granted registered rice seed to the designated rice seed producer groups under the intervention of the PCRL project.

Consultation Workshop

The Royal Government of Cambodia has received grant financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to implement a project called “Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region. The overall objective of the project is to help Rice-based communities in the Tonle Sap region of Cambodia reduce their climate vulnerability and increase their resilience to climate change through an ecosystem-based, market-driven approach.

Provincial Orientation Workshop in Battambang

On Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm, the General Directorate of Local Community of the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, under a grant financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organized an Inception Workshop on “Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region” at Stung Sangke Hotel in Battambang province.

Provincial Orientation Workshop in Siem Reap

The General Department of Local Community (GDLC) of the Ministry of Environment (MoE), in collaboration with the General Department of Agriculture (GDA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), organized a Provincial Orientation Workshop on the GEF-funded Promoting Climate Resilient  Livelihoods in Rice Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region project (PCRL) in Siem Reap Province on the 1st February 2024, with the participation of a total of 89 stakeholders (17 women) from national level and target provinces, including Siem Reap and Kampong Thom.
