Provincial Orientation Workshop in Battambang
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm, the General Directorate of Local Community of the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, under a grant financing from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organized an Inception Workshop on “Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region” at Stung Sangke Hotel in Battambang province.
The workshop was presided over by HE Dr. Yang Saing Koma, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and attended by excellencies, ladies and gentlemen from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and its departments, the Ministry of Environment and its departments, the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Department of Women's Affairs, the PCRL PMU, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the national and international NGOs in the provinces, commune councils by target area, Commune Agriculture Officials, representatives of AC, representatives of CPA protected areas, projects / programs / NGOs in Battambang, and private sector representatives, a total of 126 people (including 20 women).
The Provincial Orientation Workshop on “Promoting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods in Rice-Based Communities in the Tonle Sap Region” was conducted to (1) provide an overview of the project, including objectives, activities, and implementation methods, (2) discuss with relevant stakeholders and identify action plans, including indicators for each component in order to validate the project's priority action plan, (3) collect inputs and feedback from stakeholders to implement the project effectively, and (4) increase synergies with key partners and stakeholders at all levels.
The workshop proceeded into three sessions comprising (1) Opening and Introductions, (2) Technical Presentations and Discussions, and (3) Closing of the Workshop.
